Terms of Service

Last updated 25 August 2026.

Current as at 25 August 2026. Mabel is a new product and these terms will grow as it does — we’ll update the date above, and email you before anything material changes. They aren’t a substitute for your own legal advice. If anything here is unclear, just ask us — we’d rather explain it than have you guess.

These terms are an agreement between you and Mabel Software Pty Ltd (ABN 61 701 726 972), the operator of Mabel. By creating an account you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Mabel.

1. What Mabel is

Mabel is cloud accounting software for individuals, sole traders, non-trading companies and trusts. It records transactions, produces financial reports and totals GST for activity statements. It includes an AI bookkeeper, “Ask Mabel”.

Mabel deliberately does not handle payroll, superannuation, live bank feeds, invoicing, bills, inventory, projects or multiple currencies. If you need those, Mabel is the wrong tool for you.

2. Mabel is not your accountant

Mabel is software, not advice. Nothing Mabel produces — including anything Ask Mabel says — is accounting, tax, legal or financial advice, and we are not your registered tax agent or BAS agent.

You are responsible for the accuracy of your records and for everything you lodge with the ATO or anyone else. Check Mabel’s figures before you rely on them, and get professional advice where it matters.

3. Ask Mabel can be wrong

Ask Mabel is powered by a large language model. Like all such systems she can make mistakes: mis-code a transaction, misread a statement, or state something confidently and incorrectly. She can also take actions in your file — posting journals, reconciling statement lines, creating accounts — at your instruction.

Review her work. You are responsible for anything she does in your file. Every action she takes is visible and reversible in the interface.

4. Your account

5. Plans, billing and renewal

The free plan. Your first entity is free, with a monthly allowance of Ask Mabel messages shown on our pricing page. Connecting your own Claude account removes the message limit, because those messages are billed to your own Claude subscription rather than to us. No card is needed and there is no trial clock.

Extra entities. Entities beyond your free one are charged per entity, per year, at the price shown on the pricing page. Prices are in Australian dollars, and where GST applies it is included in the price shown.

The introductory price. Where we advertise an introductory discount, it applies to your first year only. After that, each entity renews at the standard yearly price.

Renewal. A paid subscription renews automatically each year until you cancel it. We will email you before each renewal, telling you what you will be charged and when. You can cancel at any time from your account, and you keep what you have paid for until the end of that year.

Adding and removing entities. Add an entity part-way through a year and we charge you pro rata for the rest of it. Remove one and your next renewal reduces accordingly; we don’t refund part of a year already paid.

If a payment fails. We’ll try again and let you know. If a subscription stays unpaid for 14 days, entities beyond your free one become read-only — you can still open them, read them and export everything in them, but you can’t add or change records until payment succeeds. Where you have more entities than your plan covers, you choose which ones stay active.

We don’t delete your books over an unpaid invoice. Your records stay in your account, readable and exportable, and are only ever deleted as described in section 7 and our Privacy Policy.

Price changes. We may change our prices. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email before a change affects one of your renewals, so you can cancel before it takes effect.

Refunds. We don’t generally refund part-years, but nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law — including a refund where the service is faulty or not as described. If something has gone wrong, tell us and we’ll sort it out.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

7. Your data

Your records remain yours. We claim no ownership of them. We handle them as described in our Privacy Policy, and you can export or delete them at any time. You grant us only the licence needed to store and process your data in order to run the service for you.

8. Availability

We aim to keep Mabel available and working, but we don’t offer an uptime guarantee, on the free plan or a paid one. We may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we ever shut Mabel down, we will give you at least 60 days’ notice and time to export your data.

9. Ending the agreement

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or that is being used in a way that risks harm to other users or to us. Where circumstances allow, we will tell you first.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that:

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will update the date at the top and, for material changes, email you before they take effect. Continuing to use Mabel after that means you accept the new terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, and the courts of that state have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
